Universal Studios Singapore
Southeast Asia’s first Universal Studios park, operating on Sentosa island since March 2010. Seven themed zones, around twenty-four rides and shows at full line-up, and the kind of all-day pace that rewards a bit of planning.
The seven zones
- Hollywood — the entrance boulevard, lined with 1950s-style storefronts and the Pantages Hollywood Theatre for seasonal shows.
- New York — brownstones and a working subway façade. Houses Lights, Camera, Action! Hosted by Steven Spielberg, a soundstage walk-through of a hurricane scene.
- Sci-Fi City — the home of the park’s two headline coasters, Battlestar Galactica: Human and Battlestar Galactica: Cylon, which share a station and race in parallel.
- Ancient Egypt — sand-coloured temples around the Revenge of the Mummy indoor coaster and the Treasure Hunters family ride.
- The Lost World — Jurassic Park river adventure, the Canopy Flyer and the WaterWorld live-action stunt show.
- Far Far Away — the Shrek-themed zone with Enchanted Airways (a junior coaster), the 4-D theatre and a carousel.
- Minion Land — the newest zone, replacing the former Madagascar area; Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem moves between seasonal openings; see events page for current line-up.
Rides to prioritise
| Ride | Zone | Height min. | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battlestar Galactica: Human | Sci-Fi City | 125 cm | Floorless sitting coaster, 42.5 m drop |
| Battlestar Galactica: Cylon | Sci-Fi City | 125 cm | Suspended coaster, inversions |
| Revenge of the Mummy | Ancient Egypt | 122 cm | Indoor, in-the-dark; one of the longest queues |
| Transformers: The Ride | Sci-Fi City | 102 cm | 3-D motion simulator, long run-time |
| Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure | The Lost World | 107 cm | Expect to get wet; keep electronics in lockers |
In practice, if you walk straight to the two Battlestar Galactica coasters at opening, you can usually ride both before the longest queues form, then work clockwise through the park. Revenge of the Mummy is normally the last big queue to drop late in the afternoon.
Shows and parades
WaterWorld is a 20-minute live stunt show that runs two to three times a day; its outdoor arena fills quickly, so arrive 20 minutes early. Pantages Hollywood Theatre hosts rotating seasonal productions, and street entertainers appear across the park on scheduled set-lists posted at the entrance.
What to know before buying tickets
- Dated vs. open tickets — the standard park ticket is tied to the date you pick. Weekends and school holidays carry a surcharge.
- Express passes — a paid line-skip for most rides. They are optional, but on weekends and public holidays they can save several hours of standing.
- Combos — bundling USS with S.E.A. Aquarium or Adventure Cove is often cheaper per attraction than buying separately, if you plan to visit both.
- Always buy from the resort’s official site or an authorised reseller. Street resellers on Sentosa island are not endorsed by RWS and tickets have been reported as invalid at the gate.
